Chris Phipps at St Mary's Lighthouse, 2018
This screening was one of many 50s Sci Fi Films that Chris recommended for screening over the years. Chris Phipps was a key part of the Whitley bay Film Festival team. His extensive
knowledge of films and film soundtracks was astounding and having his expertise at
the programming stage of each festival was an absolute gift. He is hugely missed but remains an
inspiration to the festival.

MARK IVESON
We’re delighted to welcome back author Mark Iveson for a special Lighthouse screening of 1953 Sci Fi thriller The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms.
Mark is no stranger to the festival, having introduced a number of features at St Mary's Lighthouse and event talks with moderator Chris Phipps.
We'll be looking back at Chris's contribution over the years to these popular Lighthouse screenings and his enthusiasm of 1950s Sci Fi cinema.
