Wonderful musical fantasy adventure directed by Jim Henson, produced by George Lucas and starring David Bowie. The film follows Sarah Williams fantastical journey to rescue her baby brother Toby, who has been captured by Jareth the Goblin King, played by Bowie. Jareth has hidden Toby deep within the confines of a magical otherworldly Labyrinth. Sarah encounters a myriad of amazing characters in her quest to find the centre of the maze. Jim Henson employs his creature shop, animatronics and puppetry to masterful effect in Labyrinth, a movie that has become a classic for young people and adults alike in the 40 years since its release.

This event is dedicated to our good friend Steve Donald who worked on Labyrinth in the animatronics department.
We will also be displaying a rare piece of his memorabilia from the Labyrinth set. Bowie's face!

Seaton Delaval Hall is one of the most important historic houses and designed landscapes in Britain. This Grade 1 listed building was designed by renowned 18th century playwright and architect Sir John Vanburgh, who also designed Blenheim Palace and Castle Howard. Seaton Delaval Hall was the theatrical backdrop for one of the most notorious of all Georgian families. The Delaval family were famous for their love of acting, hosting big parties and playing wild tricks.
Seaton Delaval Hall is a Grade 1 Listed building and we are keen to ensure that we follow all guidance as provided by the National Trust.
The screening of Labyrinth will take place in the Saloon (south / gardens side of the Central Hall) and is accessed via 17 steps. There will be refreshments available to buy at this event. Due to its rural location, patrons are advised to bring a torch - (the walk from and to the entrance/car park to the Saloon will be dark). Stewards will be on hand to help with directions.
Please let us know in advance if you need wheelchair access or have limited mobility. It can get cold, so please wrap up well.
