When Worlds Collide is a 1951 American science fiction disaster film released by Paramount Pictures. It was produced by George Pal, directed by Rudolph Maté, and stars Richard Derr, Barbara Rush, Peter Hansen, and John Hoyt. The film is based on the 1933 science fiction novel of the same name, co-written by Edwin Balmer and Philip Wylie.
The film's storyline concerns the coming destruction of the Earth by a rogue star called Bellus and the desperate efforts to build a space ark to transport a group of men and women to Bellus' single planet, Zyra.
This film was chosen from Chris Phipps' vast list of Sci Fi suggestions.

St Mary's Lighthouse:
It's a special space to watch a film and in fact dictates the dates of our festival each year (tide wise) !
The screenings take place in the room on the first floor, to the side of the tower (not in the tower itself). Access is via a flight of stairs. Unfortunately there is no disabled access to our screenings in this venue.
The venue is not a traditional screening space. It seats around 45 and gets quite warm...
Care must be taken when leaving the island across the causeway, in the dark. Staff are there to assist if required.
We find that the option of ordering fish and chips at a Lighthouse screening is very popular If you'd like to order fish and chips (some Lighthouse events only) please arrive at the stated 'doors opening' time. Pantrini's deliver the orders during the screening (we try and be discreet when alerting you in the dark, so choosing side aisle seats would help us greatly with this).
