St Mary's Lighthouse

The Lighthouse, completed in 1898 on a hazardous coast for shipping, remained operational until 1984 when it was superseded by modern navigational techniques. Since then the Lighthouse and former keepers' cottages have been operated as a visitor centre by North Tyneside Council.

The surrounding Nature Reserve contains an area of rockpools, clifftop grassland, a beach and newly created wetland habitats.

Scream and Scream Again (1970)

Introduced by Mark Iveson

author VINCENT PRICE: THE BRITISH CONNECTION

One of the strangest British chillers ever made, Scream and Scream Again has achieved a cult reputation for its weird mishmash of horror themes. Produced by genre specialists American International Pictures and Amicus Productions, the film has everything - vampires, Cold War intrigue, an alien invasion, super human composites and a police crime drama all rolled into one,

and does it make any sense? Not a jot! But somehow it remains an

entertaining horror flick that boasts a career best film performance from comedian Alfred Marks.

Scream and Scream Again is also notable for the first ever teaming of horror legends Vincent Price, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, all three at the very peak of their powers, but nothing in this film is quite what it seems. To quote Vincent Price, 'I really don't know what Scream and Scream Again was about, which scream was I playing?'

Mark's first book Cursed Horror Stars (Telos Publishing) was first published in 2015. His second book Vincent Price: The British

Connection (Telos) covers the horror icon's strong links to the UK, which includes several classic chillers and at least two career defining film performances.
