NORTH EAST FILM ARCHIVE EVENT
AT CULLERCOATS WATCH HOUSE
A series of archive films of the Cullercoats and Whitley Bay area, from the vaults of the Yorkshire and North East Film Archives. Including footage from the launch of the Cullercoats lifeboat in 1951 and a 1973 film featuring the proprietor of a local crab and cockles stand, the films give an intriguing overview of people’s changing relationships with the coastal area.
The event is part of the archives’ National Lottery Heritage Fund Nature Matters project, which uses moving image to explore one of the most important issues of our time: the impact of climate and environmental change on our natural landscapes.
